Douglas Leonard Ball, age 79, died peacefully in his home on November 11, 2020. Doug is survived by his wife Sally, four loving children: Jennifer Tufford, Jonathan Ball, Charles (Krystal) Bushard, Dana (Jim) Adamson and 11 absolutely adoring grandchildren: Evan, Elizabeth, Charlie, Molly, Ethan, Henry, Emma, Ellie, Emily, William and Maiya. He was preceded in death by his parents Bud and Grace Ball and brother-in-law Roger Wendel.
Doug was born and raised on a farm in Jackson, MN with his three siblings, Dennis, Gary and Doryne. He attended Morningside College in Sioux City, IA, and upon graduation joined the US Army and worked at the Pentagon. After serving his country, Doug moved to Golden Valley, MN where he began a career in the I-T industry. Doug and wife, Sally, joined their families in December of 1978.
This year of 2021 would have been their 42nd anniversary. Upon retirement from the VA Hospital, Doug spent countless hours helping others in his community and being the best Papa to his grandchildren. He and Sally loved spending weekends at the lake where they enjoyed spending time with the neighbors and watching the wildlife. Doug was diagnosed with cancer in October 2018 and fought hard until the end. He was a model hospice patient for seven weeks and astounded his nursing staff daily with his strength and humor. He spent his last days on earth surrounded by his family. Though losing him was the hardest thing we have been through, our hearts are full knowing that this is exactly how he wanted it to be. While we were mainly successful in fulfilling his final wishes, we did fall short when we didn't obtain a coupon for this obituary. It was a cold wintry early morning that Doug left this world which turned into a bright sunny day filled with remembrance and love. Doug's new beginning.
